Hello!

I’m Julien! (he/they)

I’m a trans-identifying therapist living and practicing in the triangle area, North Carolina. I am deeply passionate about working with folks at the intersections of queerness, neurodiversity, chronic illness, and gender identity, and also have many years of experience supporting relationships of all kinds, including dyads, poly and ethical non-monogamy partnerships, friends, and families.

I understand therapy to be a collaboration, and will work to tailor my approach to your needs and goals! I draw primarily from Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Person-Centered Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) in my sessions, and also incorporate creative exercises, narrative and storycraft exploration, and my client’s interests to center on skills and routines that best support them.

My practice is actively anti-racist. I also work from the lens of HAES (Health at Every Size), and am kink-affirming, sex-positive, trans and non-binary affirming, and fandom and alternative culture affirming.

Education:

  • M.S. in Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling, UNC Chapel Hill

  • B.A. in Classics and English, Agnes Scott College

Fun facts: I love Tabletop Role-Playing Games, and regularly GM (write and lead) sci-fi and fantasy games with friends. I also love to read (especially science fiction, but I enjoy all types of story!), to write, and to be around animals — especially my manx cat, Pickle!
